Spain achieved a new green energy milestone in 2023, with renewable sources generating over 50% of the country’s power, totalling 135 TWh

Wind and solar power are likely to set new records at 63.7 TWh and 37 TWh, respectively. Spain now stands as a European leader in renewable energy, especially in wind and solar generation. 

However, the total power demand decreased by 2.6% to 244 TWh. The year also saw a peak power consumption of 39.1 GW in January. Interconnector flows is set to end the year with a 15 TWh net exporting balance, mainly to France and Portugal.
